The Port of Shreveport-Bossier is a 2,000-acre multi-modal complex located at the head of the J. Bennett Johnston Red River Waterway. Often referred to as the “next Memphis,” the port boasts a geographically ideal location that makes it a natural distribution center for businesses operating out of the Ark-La-Tex and the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex.

With Foreign Trade and Enterprise Zone designations, as well as a U.S. Customs Port of Entry, the Port of Shreveport-Bossier offers a wealth of advantages.

Users of the port complex have convenient access to I-20 and I-49; the port site is located within the proposed I-69 corridor, and the metro area is served by 20 common carriers, three Class I railroads and numerous airfreight carriers.

Contained within the port complex are two liquid bulk terminal facilities, as well as a multi-purpose bulk and break-bulk terminal facility with dock, a fertilizer warehouse and outside storage. For general cargo handling, the port terminal area has a 600-foot general cargo wharf, a 30,000-square-foot dockside warehouse, 30-ton and 50-ton overhead bridge cranes, roll-on/roll-off ramp, mooring, storage and more. Port-operated locomotives, rail switching and storage are also available.

Industrial activities at the port complex include: yacht construction; chemical manufacturing; liquid processing; petroleum product storage and distribution; blending, packaging and distribution of automotive chemicals and lubricants; coal and agricultural products handling, storage and distribution. Additional handling and storage activity includes: steel coils, steel beams, scrap steel, steel plate, and the movement of containers-on-barges.
